Stop grrrl hate.

Family visit is over and while I’m relieved and all, it leaves me with some sadness. I know I’ll miss them, but visits with them also makes me wonder how much longer they’ll be around.

I’ve managed to adopt a healthier lifestyle in the past ten years, and I try to share it with them, but they’re so resistant. Whether its eating a meat free meal, or walking half a mile somewhere, there is always some sort of opposition.

We have a family history of diabetes, multiple forms of cancer, mental illness (depression + anxiety). They know this too, yet nothing changes, my family continues to take so many pills each day for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more, rather than seeking out a preventative solution. So badly I just want to shake my mother and say ” I want to keep you around please consider xyz” but I have a feeling that it’ll be taken the wrong way.

I’ve changed my life around in those ten years, I lost 70 pounds and maintained it, I’m no longer on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. All I want to do is help them, but they won’t accept it.

Today’s goal: Focus on the things I can change

Family visit in 4 hours, see you Sunday!
